Privacy Policy | Axle Engineering
1. Corporate Overview
Axle Engineering operates the digital infrastructure and web presence accessible at
2. User Contributions & Comments
When users submit comments on our platform, we collect the data explicitly provided in the input fields, alongside the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. This data is strictly utilized for automated spam detection and security profiling.
If you utilize the Gravatar service, an anonymized hash generated from your email address may be transmitted to Automattic to verify your account status. The Automattic privacy policy is available at
3. Media Metadata
Users uploading media files to our servers must ensure all embedded location data (EXIF GPS) is stripped prior to upload. Any files hosted on our domain can be downloaded by third parties, who possess the capability to extract this location metadata. Axle Engineering assumes no liability for the exposure of user-uploaded EXIF data.
4. Cookie Protocols & State Management
Our platform utilizes cookies to manage user sessions, authentication, and interface preferences.
Comment Cookies: Opt-in cookies store your name, email, and website for one year to bypass repetitive data entry during future interactions.
Authentication Cookies: Accessing the login portal generates a temporary, non-identifying cookie to verify browser compatibility. This is instantly discarded upon closing the session. Logging in generates persistent cookies for authentication (duration of two days) and UI preferences (duration of one year). Selecting “Remember Me” extends authentication tracking to two weeks. All authentication cookies are purged upon logout.
Publishing Cookies: Editing or publishing content generates a strictly functional 24-hour cookie containing only the post ID of the modified article. It contains no personal data.
5. Third-Party Embedded Architecture
Content published on this platform may feature embedded assets (videos, images, localized articles) sourced from external domains. These assets operate identically to a direct visit to the host platform.
These external entities maintain independent data collection practices. They may deploy their own cookies, embed additional third-party tracking algorithms, and monitor your interaction with their embedded assets, particularly if you hold an active, logged-in session on their respective platforms.
6. Data Distribution & Retention
Automated Processing: All user-submitted comments are routed through external, automated spam detection algorithms prior to system approval.
Security Operations: If you trigger a password reset request, your IP address is logged and explicitly included in the reset communication for security verification.
Data Lifespan: User comments and their associated metadata are retained indefinitely. This establishes a baseline for our system to automatically recognize and approve subsequent interactions without causing manual moderation bottlenecks.
Registered Profiles: For users holding registered accounts on our infrastructure, we persistently store the personal data provided within their profiles. Users retain full rights to view, modify, or delete their personal data at any time, with the sole exception of altering their core username. System administrators retain full override access to view and modify this profile data.
7. User Data Rights & Governance
Users possessing registered accounts or a prior history of site interactions hold the right to request an exported payload of all personal data held on our servers. You may also issue a permanent deletion directive for your personal data.
Exclusion: This deletion right strictly excludes any data we are legally, administratively, or operationally mandated to retain for compliance and security purposes.
